Hi. Caliopie again. Today I'm going out with Robi. He's been sorta shy, but he seems like a nice guy. I guess this is an afternoon date, he's picking me up at 2:00. He didn't say anything about where we were going. I only have one morning class today, and he's supposed to meet me after that. Robi's older than me by about 3 years. He told me he didn't start school until he was 20 because he was helping his dad out with the business. His family has a pest control business, he actually used to spray our house. He was always really nice, but I never really knew him as more than 'the bug guy.' I do remember he was a good dancer.

Robi was waiting for me outside my class. We hadn't talked all that much. He seemed like a well rounded "apple pie boy next door" It's not that my first impression of him wasn't correct, it's just that there was a lot more to him than I thought. "Hey, are you ready?" he said. I almost giggled, he sounded so excited. "Sure. Where are we going?" "Oh, you'll know soon enough" He winked. "Are you hungry? Thirsty? Do you need anything?" "No, I'm good" I told him. "OK, Let's go." He reminded me of a little kid who couldn't wait to show me something.
We drove a long way out into the country to an area I wasn't familiar with. We arrived at a big field. It looked like there was a stage set up, and there were several television production trucks. It wasn't a concert though, well, it looked like one, but there weren't enough people. "Where are we?" I asked. "It's not the where, it's the who. I think there's someone here you'll recognize" Robi smiled.

When we got out of the car I recognized my brother Plato's voice immediately. "Llama Mama's playing here? I didn't know they were having a concert!" "It's not a concert - not exactly - they're taping their next video. When I heard about it I called your brother and asked if I could bring you out here to watch. I know you haven't been able to see many of their concerts because of taping this show, so I thought you might like this."

I was speechless. I can't believe someone thought of doing this for me. I threw my arms around Robi. "This is the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me. Thank you Robi! I haven't seen my brother in months. How did you....?" I thought I might cry. Ok, I did cry. I was so touched. Robi just grinned that apple pie smile.

He wiped the tear from my cheek. "I'm sorry" I said, I was so embarassed. "Don't apologize. It's ok. He's your twin brother, you've seen him every day of your life until a couple months ago, both of your lives have been a little nuts. He's really glad you're here too." I was out of words at that point. I was so touched than anyone had even thought about my family. I wear my Llama Mama T shirt all the time because I'm so proud of Plato and I miss him so much. Izzy was there at the taping too - with Richard (one of the Llamas), but she intentionally stayed clear of the "Heiress" cameras.

Llama Mama sounded great. I hadn't heard them since before we started taping Heiress and they were really starting to sound like much more than a College band, and they have added a keyboard player. Robi and I danced and sang along, it was really cool having our own private concert. They had to do a lot of stopping and starting while the video people got all of the equipment set up. There were people all over the stage making adjustments to the lighting and fixing the sound problems.

During one of the breaks, Robi and I were talking about how far out in the country this location was. Robi said "Yeah, it's really great out here at night, you can see all of the stars. I used to do a lot of Astronomy when I was a kid, I had my own telescope." "I have always wanted to do that," I told him. It was the truth. "One night, I'd love to just lay out on the ground and watch the moon move across the sky" "Aw man, I'd love that, Robi said. The lights are too bright near the school to have a good view of the sky. I miss it."
The producers announced that they were done rehearsing and they were ready to shoot the video. Robi and I sat off to the side with Izzy and the rest of the crew and watched. I love their new song - It fits them so well - it's definitely going to be another hit.
When the taping was done Plato jumped off the stage and came running across the field. He gave me a big hug and spun me around. "God, it's good to see you sis!" he said, "I'm so glad you're here. How bout this guy, huh? He called Kissimmie and set this up. I was so excited when she told me you were coming today. Listen, I know you're busy, but you've really got to call me more" "And you've got to check your messages!" I ribbed him. Just then one of the technical people called him over and he had to go. I couldn't take my eyes off Plato as he stood there talking to his producers in a Llama suit. "He looks like a grown up" I thought. I know it sounded funny, since he was in a Llama costume, but he was so professional, even in that outfit, he carried himself differently. He was becoming a man. How could a sister not be proud?
I snapped out of my daze when Robi asked "Are you hungry?" This time I was. "Listen, I asked your sister Izzy and Richard if they want to come with us, there's a Chiliwitch a couple miles from here. Is it ok if they come?" Yeah. It was ok. I was so happy I was numb. I don't remember ever having a cooler day.

We went to Chiliwitch with Izzy and Richard. I thought it was really nice that Robi asked them along. Robi was right about their Chilidogs - they are amazing. "I don't lie about food" Robi said "it's too important" Everybody laughed.

Robi and I were having a nice time, but I wish I could say the same for Izzy and Richard. The haven't seemed to get along very well since Izzy got back from Azahora. Richard couldn't stop playing jokes on her and teasing her. Richard's not a bad guy, he just doesn't seem to know when enough is enough. Izzy knew it was enough and told Richard to take her home.
That left Robi and I alone at the Chiliwitch. "Wanna swing?" he said. It was going to be about 20 minutes before the van would be out back to get us. Swinging sounded like a good way to pass the time.

Robi pulled the swing as far back as he could "Are you ready? Are you sure? Are you really really ready?" He was teasing me. "Yes!" I screamed "Let me go." And he did.

I don't know if it's because I hadn't been on a swing in 10 years, or maybe it was the country night air, but I felt alive. I don't remember the last time I had so much fun doing something as simple as swinging.

And that was our date. The van came and picked us up and brought me home. I had such a great time. I've never had a date like that. And I forgot how much fun swinging can be. Robi claims it's all in the pushing. I didn't realize until just now that I didn't even kiss him goodnight. (What's going to happen to my repuation of being a serial kisser?) I don't know why I didn't kiss him, I think I was having too much fun.
And the best part of today?
When I got home there was a package on my doorstep - it was from Plato. It was a DVD of the new Llama Mama video they'd taped today.
Would you like to watch it with me? I haven't seen it yet.
