Last night I was with George...

I've hardly had any sleep, but I'll try to remember the important parts.
Wow. It was a night to remember.

George had me meet him at the Bachelor Mansion. He met me out front and led me to the back of the property where there was a little house I'd never noticed before. "What's this?" I said.
George grinned. "Oh, this is Burke's place"
"Burke? I didn't know he was on this date."
"Oh no, he's not, he's out of town signing autographs at a fan convention. You wouldn't believe the fans that guy has... And it's not really his, it's just the place they gave him to stay in during the show. But I talked to the Producers, and it's all ours tonight...

...and you're all mine!" George said playfully.
"So what are we going to do?"
"I have a few ideas..." George had that twinkle in his eye. "But it starts with Salmon."
"Salmon..."
"Yes, I'm making you my mom's famous Dill Salmon Steaks. I even called her for the recipe."

"I didn't know you could cook."
"Well, if you remember, I did work in a grocery store for several years. Working around all that food, you pick up a few tricks along the way. Cooking is the next logical step after a grocery store, isn't it?"
I suppose he was right. "Can I help?"
"Nope. If you don't watch me do this, I have a feeling you'd never believe I could do it."
I hate to admit, he was probably right.
He actually was pretty handy in the kitchen and I enjoyed keeping him company. It wasn't long before we were ready to eat.

"So, how's the Salmon?"
"Oh it's delicious. I love the sauce!"
"It's the dill. I did think about becoming a chef you know."
"Really? When?"
"Oh, before the show started, I was looking at transferring out of here to a Culinary Institute."
"Seriously?"
"Yeah, pretty serious. I'd already been accepted."
"So, why didn't you go?"
George blushed and he was quiet for a long time.
"Because, uh, when I heard about the show, and it was about you, I knew I had to try, to give it another chance. You and me."
At that point I completely lost my appetite. It had nothing to do with the food, and I forced several more bites into my mouth to be polite, but I wasn't hungry. It wasn't like George to say things like that. He gave up culinary school for a chance to be with me? My mind began to drift. We could have a little house like this, maybe, and he could cook for me. I would have a big powerful job somewhere in Legacy Land and George would run the grocery store with an Espresso Express bar inside it. We'd be home every night, and we could talk like this. The passion in the bedroom would never die, my skin is on fire every time I'm near him. Yes, I could see this working... My mind twisted around thoughts of remodeling Shanley Manor or just getting our own place, and then I realized that George was talking to me.

"....and that's why I've thought about getting into politics. But I've never told anyone that before."
Oh gosh, I didn't hear a word he said! Politics? George??? What would make him think that? Ok, he can't know I wasn't listening. "Well, I think you'd be great in politics. You should follow your dream."
"I didn't say it was my dream."
"Well, ummm, you'd still be really great. You have my vote!"
George grinned. Please please change the subject I silently pleaded. I made eyes at him and that seemed to work.
"Come outside. I'll get the dishes later. I have another surprise"
I was happy to follow him.

"Champagne?"
"Yes."

"I think it's a good night for a toast."
"Alright, what shall we toast to?"
I worked hard to push back memories of The Flaming Commode.

"To the future. May we both be there."
"To the future"
George was in that serious romantic mood that always makes me slightly weak and disoriented, and I didn't need the champagne to develop the dreamy look in my eyes. He kissed me and I smelled his christmas tree cologne and I wanted to inhale him. George took off his shirt and smiled when I looked surprised.
"The hot tub. C'mon. We're getting in."
And we did.

George wrapped himself around me and looked into my eyes.
"If I had a million dollars, I'd buy you a house"
"Really?"
"Yeah a great big house, just for us. And if I had a million dollars I'd buy you furniture for your house"
"Anything I like?"
"Anything. And if I had a million dollars I'd buy you a shiny new sports car."
"All mine?"
"All for you. And if I had a million dollars, I'd buy your love."

That was enough. He had me at 'a million dollars'

"Do you love me George?"
"I do Cali. I love you. I always have."
"But, but, I don't want to bring it up, but how do you explain the past? Nichole?"
"How do you explain the biggest mistake you ever made? I can't. I'm sorry. I want to spend the rest of my life making it right. I want to give you the world Cali. I'm not good at saying it, but I love you. I love you like crazy."

Hearing that pretty much turned my world upside down.

When all of the bubbles in the hot tub subsided, we went inside. "Let's make out on Burke's couch!" I said.
"You got it." George said. "But listen, I wanted to say something else. My parents and people bug me all the time, bout my future, like I'm supposed to have decided how my life is going to turn out."
"Yeah, I know what you mean..."
"Listen, Cali, I don't know what job I'm gonna have, but I'll have a job. For the longest time I couldn't figure out why that wasn't important to me. I kinda felt like I must be a loser. But then I started thinkin about was important. Makin you happy is important to me. It doesn't matter what my job is or what I do if you're not part of it. All of it means nothing without you."
"When did Prince Charming take over your brain?"

"I don't know" George chuckled, "but he's about to take over your body..."

So Prince Charming and I spent some quality time on Burke's couch, and he breathlessly muttered in my ear of the happiness he was begging to bring me. And I ate it all up. Every word.

And Prince Charming kissed the Heiress happily ever after...
