Chapter 26 - Burgers and Shakes

Talk to Robi? Talk to Robi and tell him what? That years ago I was selfish and stupid? That I'll never make another mistake again, and that it should all be ok? That a guy I hate just kissed me in the bathroom and I can't get it out of my head?

What am I going to do?

I could hear the kids singing Llama Mama karaoke with Plato. I wonder when the band is going out on tour again. Maybe it would be nice to travel for awhile. Things always make more sense when Plato is around.

I stood next to the dishwasher that ate Galileo's first wife. I wondered if it was hungry again. I stared off into space, and I saw something I did not expect.

Robi was outside cooking burgers. Why was Robi grilling? We had caterers. There was supposed to be a ton of food. Why would he be grilling hamburgers?

I could tell by his slow and purposeful movements that something was bothering him. It was time to run, to hide. This is not the time to talk about it, whatever it is, it can wait.

Finding myself in uncomfortable situations seemed to be kind of a theme for the day.... and the day couldn't get any worse.... could it?

Robi, honey, why are you grilling burgers?

We have guests. They're hungry.

Well, ummm, I thought that's what the caterers were for....

They left.

Who left?

The caterers. I sent them home.

In the middle of the party? Robi, sweetie, why would you send them home before we've fed the guests? Did they leave any food?

I'm grilling burgers.

But. Can I? Can I ask why you sent them home?
