Hello. My name is Mommy. I mean. I'm Caliopie Legalos, and I'm supposed to say something about becoming a mom.
Or what it's like to have a baby.
I don't really know what I'm supposed to say. Sometimes I can't remember life before Atlas. It's like it's always been this way. And other times, it's like I don't even recognize myself.
Atlas is the greatest baby ever, I mean, if you have to have a baby, it might as well be this one. To begin with, he's the first cute baby I've ever seen. (Don't tell my brother or my sister I said that.) But he really is CUTE. And he laughs every time he sees me. I don't know why I think that's so cool, but I do.
And he looks so much like Robi. I just can't believe it. Sometimes I think he looks like my dad too. It sounds so weird to hear myself say these things. I always thought people were nuts when they said them. That's when I thought all babies looked alike and their only purpose was to interrupt your life.
If I was doing something with my life before this, I don't know what it was. That should probably worry me, but it's like... I'm happy. I didn't know it was going to be so cool.
The other cool thing is watching Robi. I mean, I always thought he would make a good dad. I just didn't know that a man with a baby could be so sexy.
He plays with Atlas all the time. He loves to read to him. I don't know if Atlas understands any of it, but Robi thinks he does.
He's such a natural at the whole dad thing. Neither of us have been around babies very much but Robi took to Atlas like a duck takes to water. I'm not sure it was exactly that easy for me in the beginning, but Robi was so good at it he made it seem easy. I just started to do the same things he did, and it worked.
He tells me every day what a great mother I am. I guess that helps. I still worry I'm going to do something horrible to break Atlas or mess him up. Robi tells me that I've never been more beautiful. I say... keep talking.
