Session One : Bugs

Did you grow up having a good relationship with your parents?

Yeah. I always thought so anyway.

I've always been a pretty good kid. Never got into too much trouble. Got pretty good grades. It just never occured to me to do anything other than that.

For many years I was the only child. My grandparents lived with us so it was kind of like having two sets of parents. The used to call me "The Little Prince"

My dad didn't work back then so he had lots of time to teach me things.

Why didn't he work?

Oh, he was in college I think. My dad never could get enough school. I think he said his business failed so he had to learn how to do something else.

What does he do?

Something with bugs.

Oh. I see.

Tell me about your mother

Oh, that's complicated. But ummm, I love my mom, she's great.

Was she a good mother?

Yeah. I think she was. At least I think she tries to be. I used to think I was nothing like her, but ummm, now sometimes I wonder.

Is that bad?

No. I don't think so. Not anymore.

You said your grandparents lived with you. Why was that? Were they ill?

Well, my grandma was, but I don't think that's why they lived with us. It was kinda their house. I guess they kinda gave it to my parents and then never left. I don't know. They were just always there. They were the only grandparents I had. They were retired, I think, so there was always someone to play with me. 4 adults, one cute kid. There's no way I could grow up bad, right?

You'd be surprised what I see in my practice....

I don't remember my Grandma Kaylynn very well, she's gone now, but my mom said she loved me more than anything. I remember her making lobster a lot. Oh, and dad says she loved to clean the fish tank. They told me she fed me so much smart milk when I was little they thought I was going to turn green like my Uncle Gallileo.
