Sessions From Confessions

Session Two: Parents

My grandpa Soc took care of me a lot. I think my grandma Kaylynn was getting sick during this time and I was probably a distraction for him as well. I remember he liked to read to me. My favorite were the stories about The Teddy Bear Hunter.

Oh that's a great series.

My Grandpa Soc was my playmate. When my parents were working or doing other things, he was the one taking care of me. He was a lot of fun. He taught me how to play the theme to SimBotz on my xylophone. He told everyone I was a child prodigy.

My Grandma Kaylynn played with me too. When she had good days.

I don't remember much, but my parents later told me that when she got sick, she got confused. She would talk about people who had been dead for a long time, as if they were still alive. She probably told me all kinds of family history. It's a shame I don't remember any of it.

There were twins, Gemini and Theodora, and when Benjamin Long moved into their house, no one ever heard from them again. I've never trusted Benjamin Long...

And your mother. What was she like?

Oh there was no question that my mother loved me very much. We've always been very close.

There were times she had a faraway look in her eyes. Like she was sad.

But with me she was happy. I guess I was like any other little kid. I liked my mom.

But now she won't talk to you?

Right. She won't return my calls. It's breaking my heart. If she doesn't like my fiance, I wish she would just tell me.

Did your fiance say something to her?

No, not at all. At least, I don't think so. They were just looking at the old baby pictures of my one and only birthday party. Then my mom just got up and went to her bedroom and locked the door. I don't even think she's come out of her room since.

And your father? What does he say?

When he does answer the phone, he just says he can't talk, and that he'll try to call later.

Have your parents ever acted this way towards you before this?

No. Never. Well, not really. Nothing like this anyway. I just wish I knew what was wrong.

Maybe you should bring your fiance to the next session.
