He's been working at the nature preserve for his internship. He has to collect all these rare bugs for his thesis.
How's that going?
Long. But he seems to be happy as long as he can hunt for bugs.

But he's not killing them?
No, he's researching them. He's in the Forensic Entymology program at the University, but that's about all I know.

So how did he meet this 'friend'?
Well he was at the nature center doing some kind of research, and I guess he made the wrong bugs mad, and they turned on him. She rescued him.
Maybe they're getting back at him for all the bugs he used to kill.
Yeah maybe!

After that he came home talking about this woman who runs the nature preserve. She was giving a lecture called something like "Bug's life in the fast lane: Rapid binding, release & inactivation of pheromones"
Isn't that bug sex ?
You know.... it might be...

He stayed there talking to her for hours, he was the only one who listened to her lecture. She called him her "Star Student" He was all "nature girl this and nature girl that"
Her name is "nature girl"?
Oh who cares?

And then Natalie said that at one time the Onychophora velvet worms were suggested as a possible intermediary evolutionary link between the annelids and the arthropods.
Do you mind not talking about worms while I'm making Ramen?
Yeah! And she's one of the few that believe that Onychophora and Arthropoda represent sister groups.
Bugs have sisters?
Can you belive this Cali? Doesn't she sound amazing? She's the best girl I've ever met.

You did not just say that.
I mean besides you Cali, of course you're the very best. It's just, I've never had a girl that I could talk bugs with. I think we should have her over for dinner.
Sure, should I make grilled earth worms?
She thinks I should be the president of the Legacy Land Entymological Society. She's going to put my name in for the nomination next week at their monthly meeting.
Great. Vote for Robi. President of Bugs.
You don't sound too happy about this Cali... aren't you happy for me?

So what am I supposed to do? Be happy for him and his bug queen?

While our moms would talk, Zeiss and I would play and sometimes his dad would read us stories. That was when he was working on becoming a children's author, so he used Zeiss and I to test out his material.

Did he ever become an author?
Who?
Zeiss's father?
Oh Anthony? Yes. His Biggy Buggy Boo! series won the Children's Literature a few years ago...
You grew up with the son of Biggy Buggy Boo?
I did. He also wrote books for grownups like "The Furthest Charge" and "A Shot in the Dark"
I must say, I'm impressed. Anthony Hamilton is one of my favorite authors.
